Death of the online form
Several weeks ago I reported for jury duty.
When I arrived at Philadelphia's City Hall, I was handed a clipboard with a paper form and asked to fill out my information.
Why do they need all of this? I thought to myself.
After all, they had mailed me a postcard demanding I cancel all prior obligations and report to serve that day. So clearly they already had my information.
Begrudgingly, I spent the next 10 minutes filling it out.
Just like that, I was in a bad mood.
Fast forward to last week. I'm sitting at the beach, about to watch the sunset.
Suddenly a mosquito lands on my arm. I smack it. Dead!
I go back to watching a beautiful sunset.
Wouldn't it be nice, I thought to myself, if we could do to annoying forms what I just did to that mosquito?
After all, races are the beautiful sunset. If we can just get rid of the annoying form, well, that would make things a bit better.
This week, OpenAI approved our latest app, which allows runners to register for races listed on Run The Day without filling out a form.
All runners have to do is talk to the Run The Day plugin in ChatGPT. There's a short video below showing how I registered for the Wayne Turkey Trot just by speaking with ChatGPT.
Mosquitoes are annoying. So are online forms.
So if we can just get rid of them, why not?
