Happy 250th birthday to America

On July 4, 1776, America’s founding fathers gathered in Philadelphia and signed the Declaration of Independence.

This Saturday — 250 years later — communities nationwide are celebrating with parades, fireworks, festivals — and 5K runs.

Here's what I love about this weekend’s celebrations.

The Fourth of July is rarely celebrated alone. We gather — in backyards, on beaches, along parade routes, and at races.

And if you're a race director hosting an event this weekend, you're not just organizing a race. You're giving your neighbors a place to gather and feel part of something bigger — a town, a tradition, a country turning 250 years old.

So this weekend, whether you're directing a race, running one, or just watching the fireworks with your family — take a second to appreciate the moment.

Birthdays like this don’t happen often.

Happy Independence Day — and happy 250th, America.
