Race Spotlight: Run Drugs Out of Town

Race Spotlight: Run Drugs Out of Town

Run The Day supported the Run Drugs Out of Town 5K Run/Walk earlier this summer. Diane recently took a few minutes to share what it was like working with Run The Day. Thank you Diane!

What is your name and position?

Diane Engardio, Event Coordinator

Tell us about your race?

Run Drugs Out of Town 5K Run/Walk, hosted by Face Addiction Now (FAN), just completed its 16th annual event in June 2024. The event averages 1,800 participants although pre-Covid numbers were closer to 2,800. All funds raised help to support the many programs FAN offers free of charge to Michigan residents and their families that have been impacted by substance use disorder. On average, the event brings in roughly $100,000 per year in profit.

Why did you switch to Run The Day?

We were looking for a new platform to make packet pickup and walk-up registration more efficient and streamlined. One feature we were not willing to lose by switching platforms was the ability to create teams as team members make up over 70% of our total registrations and bring in a large percentage of all donations. Run The Day delivered on both aspects.

What benefits did you get from using Run The Day’s platform?

  • Easy to navigate registration system

  • Ability to create and manage teams

  • Extremely easy and efficient check-in mobile app

  • Great communication tools (text and email)

How did Run The Day’s mobile app work for race day registration and check-in?

It’s the best we’ve used in 16 years. Volunteers were able to use the app with very little training and virtually no issues.

What was it like working with Ian?

Ian is amazing on multiple levels. He’s extremely accessible and always willing to jump in to answer questions or concerns. He was also very open to suggestions for improvement.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share?

I would highly recommend Run The Day!

A great summer 5k
