Race Spotlight: Running aHEAD of Cancer 5K
Run The Day recently supported the Headstrong Foundations’ Race aHEAD of Cancer 5K. Lauren was generous enough to take a few minutes to share what it was like to work with Run The Day. Thank you Lauren!
What is your name and position?
My name is Lauren Jeandell, Community Engagement and Event Operations Specialist.
Lauren Jeandell with the Headstrong Foundation
Tell us about your organization
The HEADstrong Foundation is a non-profit based in Delaware County, PA that helps families affected by cancer.
Tell us about your race
This is our 6th year operating the Running aHEAD of Cancer 5K and 1 mile walk in Swarthmore, and we had over 500 participants! This year we raised over $25,000 to improve lives affected by cancer, and were able to provide grants to two women in the local community battling breast cancer.
Why did you switch to Run The Day?
We had used Run The Day for timing our races before, and were interested in using their race platform to streamline registration so that all our data would be in the same place. We liked that we didn’t have to close online registration the day before and worry about importing all the registration data to the timing system, taking out that extra step.
What benefits did you get from using Run The Day’s platform?
One of the major benefits of Run the Day’s platform was that it enabled participants to sign up online the day of the race, making the registration process simpler. They were even able to sign up using their phone while they were waiting in line to register, making the process very straightforward.
The Kelly’s Krew team raised over $2,200 at Race aHEAD of Cancer 5K
How did Run The Day’s team fundraising capabilities work?
Run The Day allowed participants to have individual and team fundraising pages, as well as allow donations directly to the foundation. We had two teams fundraising to benefit local families battling cancer so we were able to have people donate right to their team page.
What was it like working with Ian, Carolyn and the Run The Day team?
We love working with Ian, Carolyn, and the whole team. They are very responsive and always available to answer questions and troubleshoot any issues. They are always looking for ways to improve, and are very open to new ideas and feedback!
@goruntheday Congrats to the Headstrong Foundation on a great 5k! #runtheday #fyp #cancersucks
