The impact of community races

The impact of community races

When reviewing my calendar, I counted 11 community races that I attended in June. While I like many things about the events, what I like most is experiencing first-hand the positive impact that races create. When leaving a race, I always feel like it has made the community better off.

I’ve noticed that races impact communities by:

  • Bringing people of all ages together

  • Getting people active - not only during the race but also by motivating training in the weeks leading up to the event

  • Giving volunteers the opportunity to give back

  • Raising money for great causes

  • Creating a purposeful event to remember loved ones

Often when we work hard, the impact of our efforts is unclear. Sometimes we’ll get feedback in an abstract or indirect way - like through a paycheck. Community races provide the opportunity to tangibly see the impact of our work first-hand and know that it is worthwhile.

Thank you for keeping your community active and united.

Have a great July 4th!
