The Lorde Show

Last week, I went to see Lorde perform at the newly renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena in South Philadelphia.

My favorite song of hers is Green Light, but I also really like Royals and Perfect Places. It was a great show.

What surprised me was that she sang a cover of Avril Lavigne’s 2002 hit Complicated. It resonated with the audience.

What surprised me even more was when she specifically called out race registration software companies in the lyrics. The crowd went wild.

I was too busy dancing to get live footage, so I asked AI to help me recreate a mock image.

AI-generated image of Lorde performing on stage with the text “Why you have to go and make things so complicated” displayed behind her, along with logos for Eventbrite, Active, Race Roster, and RunSignUp — a playful jab at complicated race registration software platforms.

Complicated race registration software platforms

I’m just joking.

Lorde has so many bangers. She sang her music only.

Thank you Lorde, for a great show.

HOT New Websites

Building websites used to mean writing code, juggling templates in WordPress, or paying a web designer thousands of dollars.

Now, thanks to AI, anyone can bring their vision to life by designing a website from scratch — no coding skills required.

Take the Harvard 3.2 for Ben team, for example. They built their site using AI and it looks incredible.

Whether or not you’re a fan of AI, when it comes to race websites, the technology gives you creative freedom — without the tech headaches.

Why Smart Brands Are Ditching Big Conferences for Their Own Events

The Super Bowl is coming to San Francisco in February, but this week is the city’s Tech Week 2025, presented by venture capital firm a16z. Rose Johnson, a marketing leader at a16z, recently shared that many fast-growing brands are ditching their 6 figure expo booths and hosting their own experiences instead (tip #3).

It’s easy to see why. When you host your own event, you connect directly with customers, build community and create memorable experiences. Not just hand out flyers in crowded exhibit halls.

If you’re looking to grow your company, consider hosting a branded 5K. Invite clients, prospects, and local partners. Use your marketing budget to do good — give back to a cause, showcase your brand’s values, and build genuine loyalty in the process.

You’ll own the experience end-to-end — the storytelling, the energy, the memories. We’ll handle everything else.

ICYMI: The EASY Button

We like EASY. Because 90% of software features never get used. They just make things harder.

Thank you Gina, Katie and Breakout Race team!!
